Stitching update : Coaster # 2

After i have finished stitching the "Guan Yin", i have continue to stitch hubby's Zodiac Coaster which i have stopped much earlier due to insufficient materials.

Now, i have 2 done. Was thinking to do the 3rd and that'll be my baby's zodiac. But i'm not sure which to do. Most probably she's is a Scorpian since the due date falls on early Nov. However there is a possibility she is a Libran if she can't wait. Of course i hope she's due on time....Hmmm...better wait till she's born...or shall i start doing others to make a set???

Stitching : Guan Yin

I have put a stop on stitching my zodiac coaster, because the materials i have is not enough. Will have to order online to complete them. So meantime, i have started with another stitching kit (Just unable to sit at home wait for the materials without doing anything...hehehe).

This is a smaller project than water lily, only half of it's size, but is much more complicated. It involved more colors and the stitching part is really complicated include half stitch and french knot which i had never done before plus lots of back stitch. Anyway, that's the fun and challenge of stitching. :)

My work after 2 weeks of stitching. The line is really nice right?

Appear just nice to be a colorful coaster.

Stitching : Water Lily (fully completed) & Coaster (trial)

Hurray...!!! My water lily is finally fully completed. Thanks to a kind hearted lady. I went to her stitching kit shop for the color thread i need before CNY and she said she will try to ask from her friend who sell DMC since she is selling a different brand, but she can't promised. So, i left her my contact which she didn't call. Last Saturday after the dinner, me and hubby went to her shop again. To try my luck to see whether she has any thread with similar color under her brand because i don't want my work left incomplete until my next trip back to Malaysia (It's going to be about half year waiting!). Lucky me! She did got it from her friend, but she has forgotten who ask her for the favor. Thank god, i go to her shop again. I am so glad that she is kind enough to help although my stitch kit wasn't bought from her..... =) There is always nice people around...

I am now stitching zodiac pattern which i found online using the remaining materials i have. Would be doing it as a coaster. If it appear to be nice, i would then buy the material needed to finish all 12 zodiac signs as a set.

My Zodiac...
How is it??
Should be not bad, ya? ;p

Stitching update : Water Lily #4

Sigh!!! Unable to complete the stitch as planned ie. before CNY. Not that i am slow or running out of time, it's because 1 of the color thread provided is not enough!!

My work, beautiful, ya? ;p
Notice which part is unfinished??
Is at the bottom, brown color "leaf".

This is the part, a small part, not really noticeable, rite? But of course still has to complete it. Will have to wait till after our CNY holiday, because i don't know where to buy the thread. I have been to a few shops in our neighbourhood selling stitching kits, they don't sell the color thread separately. Sigh.....I have to get it when i go back to Malaysia.

Work done with the Chinese character at the upper right....
Have spent quite sometime stitching the character.
Is the hardest part to stitch i think.
Partly because the character in the chart look odd to me and i decided to outlined it myself using pencil on the cloth.

Right: character in the chart.
Left: character i outlined and stitched.
Compared both, mine looks nicer, rite? ;D

Stitching update : Water Lily #3

Hm....i spend almost a month to do this part.
This leaf is really huge!
How big?? Check this....

The big leaf is about the total size of 2 small one.....

In my last post (Stitching update : Water Lily #2), i thought i could complete the whole picture by this month end. Who knows, that big leaf have taken me a month. **nearly become weary of it** ;p But the picture i have done so far has give me the power to continue patiently until fully completed. I expect myself to complete it before CNY which hubby keep saying i wouldn't be able to. To prove he is wrong, i will have to work hard! Cheers....... :-)

Knitting : scarf completed!

Hurray, i have completed the scarf!

Actually, i can finished it earlier and it can be very fast when i started to get familiar with the knit. But i do little by little everyday and still continue with my stitching (can't bear to left my stitch... :-}).
How's my work? Not bad, huh? Have try on hubby, the length turn out to be just nice.
Now considering whether to knit another one, because the yarn is very soft and comfortable, somemore it's cheap....

Knitting...

As the weather get colder, there are many stalls selling all kinds of winter accessories. Yesterday, on the way to the market for groceries, i was being attracted by a stall selling knitted scarves. It was all hand made scarves with nice color. Upon asking the price, the stall owner told me that they also sell the yarn and teach the buyer how to knit. Since i have knitted 1 scarf before for myself, i decided to knit 1 for hubby this time. And i told hubby it will be his Christmas present. He pay, i knit, as a present, fair enough isn't it? meaningful as well, rite? ;D

The color i choose for hubby.
This big bulk of yarn only cost RMB 15 (enough for a scarf). Cheap? I think so.....and the knitting needle is free!

I have asked the owner to start for me, will continue knitting from here. Have to put aside my cross stitch and do the knitting first, because Christmas is at the corner. Let see how soon i can finish the scarf.

Stitching update : Water Lily #2

Recently, i have been spending most of my time stitching and this is my work after 4 weeks of stitching.
The picture is getting nicer, huh?

Now that i been stitching almost a month, but i still have 1/2 of the picture to go (another 2 flowers and a big leaf to be completed). I guess will need another 4 weeks to finish the whole picture. But it will depend on the progress.

Nowadays, i found myself hardly stop my hand when i start to stitch. First is because, i just can't wait to see the picture being filled up. Feels great to see the picture getting bigger and nicer. Secondly, when the stitching part getting bigger, it also getting more complicated. So, if i start to stitch, i will stop only when the part of same color is done. Else, if i stop in the middle for other things, i will have to spend sometime checking back the picture chart where i stopped and to continue when i get back, so that i won't follow the wrong line and stitch wrongly.

There are a few times, i was being distracted by the tv and end up i have to undo it. Lucky that each time when i found out, it's only small area which is easy to be undo. *touch wood* So whenever i stitch, i am very concentrate to prevent error. But sometimes, i felt sorry to hubby because i am kind of ignoring him when i stitch. Not purposely, is just i am too concentrate until i don't realized he is talking to me.

Stitching update: Water Lily

My work after 1 week of stitching. I have finished quite a lot, huh? Not really....

Yesterday, hubby praised that i am doing quite fast and asked how long i expect to finish the whole picture. Then i told him about 2 weeks time by looking at the picture. A moment later, i suddenly remember, there are 2 pages of it. So, actually i am just finishing a small part, 1/5 of it i think.....Still a long way to go...

I am kind of addicted to it now, sometimes i am just too concentrate until i forget its time to cook... ;D

It gives me a great satisfaction when i see those blank part being filled up slowly.

Stitching...

Been wondering what else to do during my free time since there isn't any book i am interested with. A friend, Tracy's blog gave me an idea of stitching. She been updating her stitching progress in the blog. So, i thought i may try stitching bigger picture (only stitched small picture and a few key chains before) which will helps to fill up more of my free time.

Yesterday, i received the 2 sets of cross stitch bought online. And from today onward, i will be busy with stitching. Let's see how long i take to finish one of them.
Here i go....
