flooding BaoAn...

Our day was spoilt due to the rain yesterday night! We found out it was raining when the time we were going back. It was really hard to catch a taxi, somemore with a long que. Luckily, we managed to catch one quite soon after we walked to the main road.

After knowing where we wanted to go, the taxi driver told us that most area at BaoAn district(place we stay) flooded, some even up to 60cm high. At first, we were doubt because it's still find when the time we were out in the afternoon. Somemore, it's not flooded the other day when the typhoon hit SZ when the rain is extremely heavy and non-stopped for the whole day. So, how could it be possible since we were only out for 1/2 day? We immediately confirmed with our friend at home and it's true. All our neighbourhood has flooded. From the radio, we knew many places have serious jam due to the flood.

The taxi driver then informed us that he is not going to send us to BaoAn, instead to NanTou (a place near to BaoAn) so that we could took a bus there, because he afraid his car could not passed the flooding road. Besides, there is serious jam, he don't wish to be caught in the jam.

We get off at a bus station at NanTou. It's still raining and the roadside is flooding. Besides, there is such a crowd waiting for buses. We had used our great effort to get on a bus which will passed-by our neighbourhood. However, we didn't know that the bus actually changed its route due to the flood and the busman didn't even bother to inform the passengers. When we realised, the bus almost reached the destined bus terminal. Hubby got a little frustrated because we are not sure of our location and it's dangerous to be at a strange place especially at night. We quickly get off the bus at a busy street and catched a taxi.

Finally, reached home. The flood has gone, the traffic back to normal and we could set our heart at rest. Both of us laughed. Me and hubby would never been to the place if it wasn't because of the flood. But, i wonder how could the busman be so irresponsible since we actually asked whether the bus passed-by our neighbourhood when we get on. What a "extraordinary" experience we had!

Coastal City, Nanshan District

Costal City, the place me and hubby went yesterday for movie. Its actually located at a newly develop housing area at Nanshan District. There are 2 cinemas, a few supermakets include Jusco and Carrefour, lots of restaurants and of course shops selling variety of things. Besides, there is a "book city" within walking distance. It is very similar to our One Utama in Damansara. A good place to spend the weekend indeed.

We have our lunch there at a Taiwanese restaurant before the movie. Yes, Taiwanese foods again! Both of us just love it. The foods is quite nice, but not as local as we had in the restaurant at Hongkong. I like the environment very much. A very quiet place with scenery of a skating rink where you can have your meal comfortably compare to most of the restaurant at SZ. Restaurant at SZ are far more noisier since people here like to talk loudly. No offense, perhaps they are more passionate. :))

watching movie in cinema...

Hubby likes to go cinema whenever there is big film. But, since we come to SZ, we have not watch a movie at cinema. It is actually a high-class activity here with the ticket at minimum 80RMB per person. Thinking the older-time at Malaysia, RM10 per person for a movie we already feel expensive and always select to watch at odd times. Now, we know there is still a saving grace in Malaysia. I wonder how can most of the people here afford to watch with that price. Well, probably because of that, there are lots of pirated DVDs here. ;p

Yesterday, me and hubby decided to spent that 160RMB for movie in cinema. At least to see what is so special at the cinema causing such an expensive price. We have gone to "Golden Harvest" at the Coastal City, Nanshan District SZ. The seats and sound system are not bad, but the theater is considerably small. It probably have bigger theater which i don't know. Overall, not much different from cinema in Malaysia except the price, even the pop-corn with coke also expensive ie 39RMB for a set.

The good point is the customer service is really good. After we purchased the ticket, we found out there is a promotion whereby applying as member with 1/2 price ie 50RMB and will get to purchase 2 tickets with 99RMB for that day. The staff is kind enough to assist us on refunding the ticket and then applying for the member card. Finally, we spent 150RMB for movie plus able to enjoy member's benefits for future.

However, i am not sure whether we will be going again, because after including the transport and a meal, that's a really high-cost entertainment!

Hongkong day trip

Me and hubby go to Hongkong as planned yesterday. We were out quite late due to the heavy rain at SZ. If it was not because of my Visa only allowed 30 days staying per entry, we would have stay at home. It is always the best to stay at home during rainy day!

Luckily it was not raining at Hongkong when the time we arrived. Therefore, we headed to Mongkok directly. We had our lunch at a nice little Taiwanese restaurant there. The foods is really delicious especially the Taiwanese minced pork rice "LuRouFan". I should have took some photos and post it to share, but still yet to act, it already in our stomach...Hahaha...Never mind, will do it the next time. I think we will be going there for meal again and again whenever we go Hongkong. :) Worth our support!

After the meal, we did a little shopping. I bought 2 Esprit T at a very cheap price, only 49HKD each. Wonder why it could be so cheap at Hongkong somemore its not during sales!

We left around evening when it started to rain heavily. We stopped at "DongMen" SZ to avoid traffic jams and where hubby could get some DVDs. By the time we reached home, its almost 11.00pm. And then, i found out i have missed the last episode of my favorite TVB drama. Don't understand why they like to rearrange the drama to Saturday whenever the last episode falls on Monday!

Well, i hope i could get a longer stay Visa when i renew on Sept after the "Olympic". Then, we won't need to go Hongkong by force!

Cloudy..

Hurray, finally stop raining! Its a nice cloudy weather now. But i wonder has the typhoon gone? I hope it has.

Tomorrow will need to go Hongkong for a "chop" at my passport. So, i hopes the weather continues like that, cloudy, not too hot, nice for outdoor activities...Me and hubby will only be able to go shopping at Hongkong..Hehehehe...

Typhoon..

After weeks of rainstorm continuosly, the weather-news reported the summer has come. On Sunday, the forecast said its going to be sunny day the entire week. Although there is a tropical cyclone, but its not going to affect SZ and Hongkong. While we are still discussing the heat, last night out of sudden, the weather-news reported that Hongkong is on "typhoon Alert". Very soon today midnight, it hits SZ. From then, there is storm continuosly, not known when its going to stop.

I am so regret not buying enough foods during the weekend while its still sunny. Due to the heat, i was reluctant to go out and i thought i have plenty time to do shopping. But now, i cant be out because of the scary storm. Sigh!!!

Hubby's birthday present..

Since hubby's birthday is around the corner, he been wondering what to get for himslef as a birthday present.

Coincidently, last week, "Apple" announced that they are going to launch iPhone 3G at 50 other countries including Hongkong with a cheaper price in July. I was hoping that hubby miss out the tv-news because i know he will be crazy about it if he gets to know. Since its lauching in America last year, he been dreaming to have one. Therefore, he surely will get one now if comments said its worth. Well, my hopes doesn't come true. He still gets to know and he is really happy about it.

Of course its fine for him to get one, as long as its within his budget. But my concern is, he already has 2 mobiles, one of it is already a 3G phone. What is he going to do with that one if he bought iPhone? I don't think he needs 3 mobiles at once! Besides, trade-off is not worthy as its only 1 year old. Should i pursuade him not to? Will he listened?

To be frank, hubby as a "technophile", it is his only way of rewarding himself from work. Perhaps i should let him be, should i? Ooohhh, confused....

Trip to Bangkok (1/5/08-4/5/08)

Never been to Bangkok before, although Malaysia is a neighbour country of it. Been hearing friends talking about their trip there, how nice it is, how friendly the people, how delicious the TomYam, how cheap the clothes...etc etc...
Finally, me and hubby decided to have a trip there during the Labour day holiday. We spent around 4 days there.

Day 1-1st May 2008
We took 12.30pm flight from Shenzhen International Airport and reached Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport around 2.40pm local time (Bangkok's time is 1 hour later than China). Then, we took the Airport Express bus to the Guest House which we will be staying at the Banglumpoo Area. After a short break in the room, we decided to head to Chinatown for dinner. We took the Express Boat (one of the popular transport in Bangkok) from Phra Arthit Pier to Ratchawongse Pier near Chinatown.

By the time we reached Chinatown, all the shops and stalls had closed or are closing down. Never known that they actually stop business in the evening, we have no choice but the take a taxi and headed to Patpong night market. We had our dinner in a nice restaurant there. After the dinner and some shopping, we went back for an early night and planning for next day's activity.

Day 2-2nd May 2008
Since we are staying at Banglumpoo Area, a lot of tourist attractions are within walking distance. Therefore, we planned to visit those famous "Wat" (temple in Thais) nearby.
After the breakfast, we headed directly to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keow, a must see attraction in Bangkok. It was a sunny day and the weather is really hot! Hence, make walking a hardwork, even only a short distance at the time of 9.00am in the morning. By the time we reached, we were all wet.

At the entrance of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keow, there are soldiers checking on visitor's appearance. Visitors have to dress formal instead of casual. They are very particular on this. Women have to wear knee-length skirt or pants with shoes. Those who wear sandals have to wear long-skirt or long-pants and men have to wear trousers, short-pants is not allowed. Besides, blouse and shirt cannot be sleeveless. Visitors would not be allowed to go in if they are in the wrong dress code. But, they are nice enough to have a management office at the entrance which will rent out whatever you need with no cost. Deposit will be returned upon returning the cloths after visiting. A really "sweet" service.

The compound of Grand Palace and Wat Phra Keow is quite huge and we spent our whole morning inside taking lots of photos. The buildings are very beautiful and unique. Around noon, we found out both our video camera and digital camera is out of battery. Without camera, it would be very prosy and we are unable to capture the places we went. Besides, we are going to have a cruise dinner that night. Therefore, we have no choice but to cancel our plan visiting other nearby "Wats" and go back to the guest house to charge the batteries. A lesson of not charging battery before used!

We spent our afternoon shopping at Khaosan Road nearby while letting the battery to be charged. Khaosan Road is a place crowded with backpackers, all kinds of stalls, shops and restaurants. We can see lots of foreigner spending their day sitting in the restaurant with beers, chit- chatting or doing nothing but merely looking at passerby. Its kind of enjoyment for them.

That evening, we have our dinner on a cruise along Chao Phraya River. It was an interesting experience with beautiful scenery of the river at night and traditonal performance on the cruise. After the dinner, we headed to the SumLum night market, for shopping again. It is a really good place for shopping, you can get anything you want in the market. We bought quite a few T-shirts with cheap price.

Day 3-3rd May 2008
We have went to Ayutthaya, an ancient city which was declared as a "World Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO. It is about 1 hour journey from Bangkok city center. The private car we booked from TAT office came to fetch us at 9.00am in the morning. The driver named "Simon" is quite friendly. He has brought us to quite a few famous "Wat" in Ayutthaya, and also the Royal Summer Palace in Bangpa-In. Inside the palace, there are various type of buildings such as traditional Thai style, Chinese style, European style and etc inside the palace compound. It seems like the Thais King is gathering different styles of building from the world in his palace compound.

Unlike in Bangkok, most of the temples in Ayutthaya has been ruined by Burmese during the war. Since most restoration are done after decades, they already unable to present their original look. However, from those temples we have visited, we can feel that Thailand's government has putting great efforts in maintaining these precious historical scenes. All of them are well taken care, no matter the compound is big or small.

Originally, we planned to spent the whole day at Ayutthaya, we thought visiting those temples will took lots of time and temples there are countless. Until we were there, we found although the compound of each temple is quite huge, but we were unable to spent long time at each place due to the extremely hot sun. Besides, they are more or less the same, not worthy to spend lots of time and ticket at each and every of them. We could just take some pictures outside. Hence, without noticed, we have finished visit 6 most popular temples in that half day. The driver suggested we could ended the trip because remaining places are not worth to visit. Since both of us is exhausted, we agreed to end the trip and go back for rest. Our day trip become a half day tour. Me and hubby actually feel a little regret for hiring the private car because later we found out by joining small group tour, we also get to visit those same places with cheaper price.

That night, again, we went to SumLum night market to continue our shopping because we will be leaving the next day evening.

Day 4-4th May 2008
It was a Sunday, we have planned to visit the famous Chatuchak Weekend market in the morning. Since we are leaving Bangkok in the evening, we have packed our luggage the night before, so that we could be out in the morning and simply check out the room in the afternoon when we back, without rushing.

We found Chatuchak another good place for shopping. Things there are much more cheaper compared to other places. But its quite fuggy since the shops are in long small alleys especially during sunny day. Again, we ended up buying a lot of things.

We back to the guest house on time and check out the room at 12noon. Then, we left our luggages in the guest house and go to Khaosan Road for lunch. Besides, we also have to bought a backpack because we have no enough space to pack the things we bought from Chatuchak.

We left Bangkok with lots of booty. What our friends said is true, its really a nice place to visit where the people are friendly, things and foods are cheap and affordable. Besides, we found out taking taxi is the best and cheap way to go any places you want as long you make sure they are on meter. As for the "tuk tuk", its cute and interesting, but to ride, unless you are good in bargaining with the driver. Else, its only nice for try, once. Me and hubby are hoping to be back again.

Raining..

Shenzhen's weather been very bad recently. I think not only here but also all other places in Guangdong Province. Many places have flooded due to the heavy rainstorm.

Since i grown up in a tropical country which is more humid, i always found my skin peeling due to dryness after i came to China, no matter how much water i drank and how much lotion i applied. To me, rain has made the air more comfortable.

However, the rain here is quite scary as it always come with storm. Besides, it tends to rain for a few days continuously. Its actually causing inconvenience as we can hardly go out to do our shopping for necessity.

Really hopes that the weather could be better. Small amount of rain to increase humidity and reduce summer heat instead of rainstorm continuously which causing flood and inconvenience.

Big surprise!!

Yesterday hubby came back late from work. While i am still wondering the reason he is late, he is back with a box of cake. He has gone to buy the cake after work. I was blur and ask, why he bought a cake since his birthday is next month.
He explained that the cake is actually for our wedding annivesary which supppose to be the day before ie 9th June. Because he is back too late from the working trip on that day and unable to celebrate it, its actually a belated celebration. I am so surprise, in fact, he remembered. A really big surprise! Thank you darling.

Happy Anniversary!!

Today is our 1st wedding anniversary. Hubby will only be back from his working trip by tonite which means there is no celebration. And in fact, i wonder whether my man remember. Hehe..I am not that kind of "you must remember and celebrate every special dates" people, so its ok for me if he doesn't remember. But of course, if he does, i'll be very glad. Actually, i am confused on which date to celebrate. We are officially husband and wife since Oct 2006, but made announcement via traditional ceremony on June 2007. We did not celebrate our 1st anniversary of marriage registration on Oct 2007, so shall we celebrate this date? But then to be more specific, our ceremony falls on June because of the date we selected according to Lunar calendar. Therefore, shall we celebrate according to Lunar calendar? I know there is lots of people having the same situation, both registration and ceremony date is different, some of them are celebrating both. In this case, there will be lots of date to be celebrated such as birthday, valentine's day, 1st dating day, etc etc...Well, its not a bad things as it could help to spice up our life, making as much day a memorable one. Anyway, to me, as long as there is love, everyday will be a memorable day! You could have it celebrates anytime if you wish.

Birthday!!

Grandpa will celebrate his 80th lunar birthday next month. There will be a celebration dinner within family. Although grandma doesn't insist that me and hubby have to present because she knows air tickets for both is quite costly plus hubby has to work. But i know she hopes we could make it so that it will be a reunion for our family on that day.
Hubby for sure unable to go back due to his busy schedule for next month. He is in charge of the company plant moving which will be started soon. He can't be taking leave at this period. Therefore, it's gonna to be me only.
Actually, me and hubby have planned to back Malaysia during end of Sept as there is a 3 days national day holiday in China early Oct. In this case, including hubby's AL, we could have a 2 weeks holiday back in Malaysia. The most important is, i have to be back that time for renewal of my visa since it will be expired by Sept. I can't have it done earlier since i was told that the China Embassy no longer accept application of multiple entry visa which is more than 1/2 year before Olympic. Meaning, i could only make the application after August 2008.
Besides grandpa, hubby's birthday also coming next month, 2 days after grandpa's birthday. If i back to Malaysia for grandpa's birthday, then i will have to back immediately the day after his birthday so that i managed to celebrate hubby's birthday with him. What a tight schedule.
Well, well, Oct is a must trip, trip for next month is still unsure. I am still struggling since an extra trip means an extra spending of air ticket. Anyhow, I will have to figure it out asap before the air ticket getting more and more expensive.

Home Alone II

This is the 4th day since hubby went to Bangkok for work. I spent my day time as usual, watching tv, online, reading etc..not much different. As for the nights, the time seems to be harder to pass.
When hubby is around, i tend to fall asleep easily and sleep soundly. But now, it goes the other way round. I spent longer time to fall asleep and awake easily. I am not sure how could this happen since i used to be alone as well when i was back in Malaysia last time.
The only different is the place. When i am back in Malaysia, it is my home and i have my family with me. Now, i am all by my own in China and this is the very first time i was left alone here. Hopefully, this never ever happend again or if he has a working trip, bring me along. :)
Another 3 more days, hubby will be back. I hope time goes faster so that he could be back faster.
Miss you badly honey!

Petrol Petrol Petrol

Got news from brother that Malaysia petrol price has rised to RM2.70 per litre effective 5th June 2008. It is a 40% increase of original price. What a major increment!! Malaysian has actually prepared for the rising price after voting, but that amount is just out of the expectation.
A friend told me that after price increased, she will have to spend around RM600 per month for petrol for her normal travel to work. That amount is nearly 1/4 of most Malaysian's salary. Due to petrol price rised, other expenses such as foods will also increased and make the life more difficult in Malaysia. Although, this don't really affect me and hubby since we are staying at China at the moment, but we foresee the increase of airfares which will make our cost of returning home more expensive.
Of course we know that the increase is necessary since the global petrol price is increasing. But how could living be possible when the expenses increased tremendously without income rising?

Home Alone

Hubby has gone to Bangkok office this morning and will fly to Penang directly from there. He will only be back next Monday. Meaning i will be alone at China for 1 week for the first time.
Since i am here, i have never be left alone at home for a day. Therefore, he is quite worried about me. He even suggested i back to Malaysia for the week while he is not around.
Actually, this doesn't make a big different for me during the day time. Since he has to work, i am all alone at home until he is back from work usually. As for the nights and weekend, i am not quite sure. Hehe...
Anyhow, i am sure i will miss my darling badly for the week...
