Yummy...

Any idea what is this?? The "Kampung style Pan Min". It's my favorite at home. I said it's the "Kampung style" because the dough is being teared into pieces by hand. We called it "flour cake" in Hokkien at home but it's commonly known as "Pan Min" in Cantonese at KL area which they cut the dough into noodle using machine.

This is my very first time cooking Pan Min all by myself, in China especially. At home, i only helped my mum to tear the dough into pieces and i thought it's very simple! Until then i know, it's very troublesome, especially the part of making the dough....Glad that the tastes turn out to be the same as my mum's cook. Well, i will ever do it again only when i really missed the taste....;D

Red Ant

Saturday, me and hubby had our dinner at a restaurant named "Red Ant". It's a restaurant offering different cuisine : Western, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Asian.....

A nicely decorated restaurant with fair price (I think).

I ordered a Western set meal which started with the bun....
Mushroom soup. It's too watery, making the soup tasteless.... ;(

My nicely decorated main course.
Grilled pork chop actually. But it comes with the spaghetti.

Though the cream soup was tasteless, the main course turn out to be nice (fortunately).
I love the baked veges especially.

Ice coffee comes with the set meal.

Hubby's order : Baked grouper in white sauce with rice . He loves this creamy dish a lot.
Most of the time he will order it, doesn't matter which restaurant as long as it's in the menu. ;p

Feb 14

Starting as long distance relation, me and hubby never had any Valentine's day celebration before. Since we "park toh", we stayed apart most of the time. From the beginning he worked in Penang and i am at KL, till later he is in China, we don't even had the chance to be together on this special day for Valentines.

Many friends wonder, how we actually maintained our relation and developed till the marital stage while the day we spent together during our 2 "park toh" years is actually not more than 6 months. Myself doubted too. Well....it just happened! =) I think the distance has led us to cherish every moments we had together and hence, heating up our relation.

This Feb 14, for the 1st time, we able to spend the day together, although no special celebration. Compared to previous years when we could only greet each other by sms and calls; watching dvd side by side, playing game we both enjoyed and having dinner together are already the greatest celebration for us. Of course it's like any other normal weekend we had now, but i am kind of enjoy it. ^-^

Talking about the day, we had a pre-Valentine's day dinner, a night before Feb 14, at our favorite cafe-Ming Tien Coffee and Tea. To avoid the crowd on actual day and being "chop"!! ;p Well, it's a dinner with slight disappointment. We ordered the Thai's fried rice as usual. The taste is the same, but the ingredients is different. We asked the waitress to confirm the order, she said : " oh...the mussel finished, but this is Thai's fried rice you ordered." We :".......???!!!" We are not sure whether they have changed the recipe due to economy recession (they substitute mussel with straw mushrooms) or they are saving the ingredients for Feb 14 customers (their brochure show a 60% marked-up for the same fried rice on that particular Feb 14). Anyway, shouldn't they informed us if any ingredients finished?? hmmm.....

Guess what! We had our dinner in a Karaoke on Feb 14... ;D We have such a long time didn't sing, so we decided to go there for dinner and enjoyed singing at the same time. To my surprise, they are doing promotion on the day; 1/2 dozen of Anchor beer is giving free for every room and all the charges (rooms, drinks and foods) is at normal price. What a great deal, ya? The first place i ever know, not marking up the price on Valentine's day, instead doing promotion. Two of us spent 3 hours screamed out our lung there and we only managed to finish 3 bottle of the beer.....Heheheh.....
(PS: Oh.....i missed the days going to Redbox in KL with friends. That's our favorite activity for weekend lunch....)

Received an email attaching a simple card from hubby on Feb 14 morning. My darling hubby is sweet enough to create it while i am still in the bed. But i only found out today- Feb16, what a failed wife i am! =(
Thanks, honey. You are really sweet. ^@^

Stitching : Water Lily (fully completed) & Coaster (trial)

Hurray...!!! My water lily is finally fully completed. Thanks to a kind hearted lady. I went to her stitching kit shop for the color thread i need before CNY and she said she will try to ask from her friend who sell DMC since she is selling a different brand, but she can't promised. So, i left her my contact which she didn't call. Last Saturday after the dinner, me and hubby went to her shop again. To try my luck to see whether she has any thread with similar color under her brand because i don't want my work left incomplete until my next trip back to Malaysia (It's going to be about half year waiting!). Lucky me! She did got it from her friend, but she has forgotten who ask her for the favor. Thank god, i go to her shop again. I am so glad that she is kind enough to help although my stitch kit wasn't bought from her..... =) There is always nice people around...

I am now stitching zodiac pattern which i found online using the remaining materials i have. Would be doing it as a coaster. If it appear to be nice, i would then buy the material needed to finish all 12 zodiac signs as a set.

My Zodiac...
How is it??
Should be not bad, ya? ;p

"Dong Zhu Yi"

Me and hubby had our dinner in a Taiwanese eatery - "Dong Zhu Yi" near our neighbourhood the night before we went back to Malaysia for CNY holiday.
To our surprise there wasn't any other customer, only two of us occupying the whole place during the meal. According to the owner (Taiwanese), many of his regular customers had went back Taiwan for CNY holiday and due to the bad economy, most of them are having long holiday. (Sigh...when will the economy get well???)
Let's see what we had for our dinner....
Taiwanese style (with ketchup and mayo) "fried oyster".
Hubby said it tastes better than China's but he loves Malaysian style most.

Fried chicken chop.

My order: Sweet and sour ribs with 7 other side dishes (complementary)
Tastes very nice.

Hubby's order: Fried fish (forget what fish ;p)
come with complementary side dishes as well

Lastly, the famous Taiwanese drink : bubble milk tea with "pearl"

The dinner was not bad, especially the sweet and sour ribs. Me and hubby actually prefer Taiwanese cuisine than local Chinese cuisine. Because we found that their taste is more similar to Malaysian Chinese food. Although some local eateries also offer some Malaysian
cuisine, eg: Char Kuoy Tiow but it just tastes differently. It appears that only the name is label with "Malaysian.....".

In SZ...exhausted!!!

There is only 1 word to describe our trip back in Malaysia - Exhausted!!! Each time we were back in Malaysia, we are so busy, going here and there, doing this and that....Hubby said it is far more tired than working. I agreed, my life in SZ is very much relaxing =). Poor him, have to get back to work immediately the next day, can't even rest after back from the trip.

Before we went back Malaysia for CNY, i am looking forward for the warm weather as it is really cold in SZ. And as expected, very soon, i started to scream for the heat and thinking of the cold. Thank god that weather in SZ now is very pleasant and comfortable. Hopefully it could maintain at this temp always.

Remember the water lily stitch which is incomplete? Too bad that i was too busy to shop for the color thread which is not enough, in Malaysia. Will have to search in SZ or online before i could start my another stitch.

hm...time to get a little more rest.... ;p
