depreciating Hongkong currency...

Hongkong currency been depreciating. To travellers, this might be good if they visit Hongkong, but not to us, expatriates who are earning HKD. I remember when hubby first come to work at SZ about 2-3 years ago, the currency is RM100=48HKD*. Now, it has depreciated till 41HKD**. That's really a big loss for converting money back to Malaysia. Even yearly increment of salary also cannot covered the loss. Besides, China currency is getting stronger. Our expenses increased because we need to pay more by using HKD.

Previously, hubby's intention to leave far away from home and work here is to earn more. It is really worth working here, taken the currency into consideration when he come. But now, it seems to be unworthy. Perhaps, we should consider back to Malaysia. After all, that is our home and we could earn the same amount if both of us working. No point leaving home so far when the original intention no longer attainable.

Amendments:-
*should be 100HKD=RM48
**should be RM41

Dear Jess,
I am very happy that you are enjoying your tai tai life in Shenzhen now. I am planning to leave my current company some day before end of this year. If it is going as planned, i wish to take a break before i start a new job. So, hopefully you are still in Shenzhen where i have never been and wish to visit you and Ben one day. As you said HKD is depreciating, it might be a good idea to go back Malaysia. But then, you cannot enjoy your tai tai's life leh. haha....Oh ya, but Carl said the currency is bouncing back and i think you have written the other way round. You wrote: RM100=48HKD, it was supposed to be 100HKD=RM48, right! hee...hee....alright then, keep on blogging so i can feel that we are keeping in touch and know you are doing well there.
love you,
grace

Dear Grace,
Thanks for pointing out the mistake i have done. Ya, it should be the other way round, what a big mistake i have done. If it is really RM100=48HKD, we will be rich! Won't have to think of going back Malaysia anymore..haha...Let me know if you're visiting SZ.
love you too,
