9th & 10th pregnancy check up..
Urine test : normal
Blood pressure : 110/70
Hb : 10.0 (obviously has reduced again from my last record...sigh...)
Weight : 51.5kg
Baby's heart beating at 139bpm (ie. normal, within 120-160bpm)
Besides my Hb getting low again, i am doing well. Of course being nagged by the nurse on that and asked what i have done. Well, i really did nothing, eating as usual, not even having any tonic soup for the pass 3 weeks before this routine check. Is it because of that, my Hb reduced?? or because of the flu?? (I had flu for about 2 weeks plus and having antibiotic to cure it, finished and recovered 2 days before the check up). The nurse said, that could be the cause but she has then requested me to increase Iron supplement (2 tablets twice a day). Hopefully this does help.
My next appointment with the poli will be 2 weeks later. Since my last trimester begin, the routine check up is scheduled to once every 2 weeks.
*************************************************************
A nurse from the poli pay me a visit on 20/8/09 morning (2 days after my routine check in the poli). Well, she just dropped by to visit me, i guessed, because she told me she is going to visit a newborn baby stay in the same "taman" and she didn't even bring my record book. The nurse know me quite well because all the past visits was done by her. She checked my blood pressure (120/80) and asked whether i'm comfortable. She only spent about 10 mins.
*************************************************************
On 23rd August, went to the private gynea for routine check. My gynea (Dr Lim) wasn't available when i arrived due to emergency operation. I was being consulted by another gynea, Dr Raja. He is a much more experienced gynea but due to possible communication problem (scared i can't expressed well in English esp. during delivery due to panic), i didn't choose him as my gynea. I'm not sure how long he has been practised as a gynea, at least 20-30 years i think. He was my mum's gynea when my mum delivered my youngest brother 15 years ago. And my mum said at that time, he is already very experience.
Dr Raja is very strict, never like my gynea, Dr Lim, will greet me will a smile and ask how am i doing. He appeared to be very "cool" but he gone through my records very carefully during consultation. He asked some questions about my pregnancy history. He seems confused when i told him i got no diabetes as well as my parents (he asked twice). Then he requested me to bring my blood test report on my next appointment to confirm i had no Hepatitis B (wondering why my gynea didn't ask for it and now he wants it).
Urine test : normal
Blood pressure : 108/68
Weight : 51.5kg
No scanning since it has been done during last check up. Only baby heart beat checked, normal.
Besides, in a strict voice (sort of scolding me), Dr Raja requested me to stop taking tonic soup. He said he doesn't mean those Chinese herbal is bad but since we are not sure what is the cause for my last incident (also taking the same soup) and their functions clearly, it is better not to consume. He got the points, so i will be stopped taking the soup. Pertaining to my breath difficulty during sleep, he taught me to make a slope with pillows and sleep at my side on them. Well, it seems to help but sometimes, i cant get the slope done properly...hehe...
Since poli's has scheduled routine check every 2 weeks, my next appointment with private gynea will be 3 weeks later (suppose to be 4 weeks but it's Raya Holidays).

Apple cake
My apple cake looks a little ugly, i think...hehe...but that's the standard look (similar to the site where i got the recipe). It tastes nice with little apple fragrant and the apple still little crunchy. To people who love sweet, it's just nice, but to me it's over. Will have to reduce the sugar next time.
Recipe:-
~ 250g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
~ 250g golden caster sugar (or normal caster sugar)
~ 4 eggs, beaten
~ 250g self-raising flour
~ 3 apples, peeled, cored and cut into wedges
~ 2 tbsp brown sugar**
~ ¼ tsp ground cinnamon**
Steps:-
~ Heat the oven to 180C.
~ Butter a 20cm/8inch baking tray, then line the base with baking paper.
~ Beat the caster sugar and butter together until the mixture turns pale and fluffy.
~ Add the eggs and flour, then beat together quickly to make a smooth batter.
~ Tip into the prepared baking tray, then lay the apple wedges on top, poking them halfway into the mix. (Don’t worry if the apples appear crowded – they’ll shrink as they cook.)
~ Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.**
~ Bake for 1 hour 5 mins, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean and the sponge is risen and golden.
~ Leave to cool for a few mins, then release the tray and cool the cake completely on a wire rack.
**can be skipped. (I skipped and it's still nice).
PS: Reduced the castor sugar if don't want it to be too sweet.

My 2nd Trimester
Had admitted to GH for 1 day due to minor bleeding during early 2nd trimester. It wasn't a pleasant stay, though. Advised by GH's gynea, the bleeding was due to low laying placenta (gynea in SZ did mentioned when i had brownish discharged) which later being confirmed by private gynea. I was being told not to worry until 3rd trimester and to rest more, avoid carry heavy things.
Mum brought me to temple to pray for blessing and the 'goddess' advised me to limit my movements (used to walk fast with big steps ;p). I had since then walk and move like penguin, slow and steady. Besides, my family suspected my brother's wedding is part of the cause. Traditional Chinese belief believes it is not good to crash 2 "happy" events (ie. pregnancy vs wedding). Therefore, i was told not to involve too much in my brother's wedding (am helping a lot since back), could only attend the dinner as guest. Also, avoid attending other's wedding, party as well as funeral, even eating things bringing back from those events. I am also being taught to massage my belly with upward movements to help bring up my placenta. I am not sure whether it really help, but my placenta has moved up to normal position at the end of 2nd trimester.
Someday during mid 2nd trimester, i found my legs look swelling and my aunt also noticed it. Of course it wasn't really swelling (confirmed by gynea, not edema), my legs just merely grown "bigger" instead. Another words, they have grown fatter and stronger, to support my weight, i guessed...haha...Until end of 2nd trimester, that's the only part on me get fatter since i gained my weight **crossing my finger**. Hopefully they will become slim after deliver (I still wished to wear mini skirt! ;p)
My belly has grown bigger from day to day and the belly button has become more and more shallow, sort of flatten. Till end of 2nd trimester, my waistline is about 36 inches. Also, i can feel my baby growing more and more heavy. Because of the belly growing bigger and heavier, my movements become clumsy. No matter sitting or squatting, i had to be very slow, cant even walk fast when rushing and i always have to put a hand on my lower abdomen when moving, like holding it. Anyway, no one will blame me...pregnant women is the "greatest"....hehe....
Since early of 2nd trimester, i started to feel my baby kicks softly once in a while. During mid of the trimester, i have started to do the kick count as requested by the nurse in GH poli. At the beginning, it is still hard to count because sometime i cant feel the kicking especially when i am busy, had to pay much attention to get it counted. And slowly, i could feel more and more kicking including her movements. End of the trimester, my baby already moving quite actively, of course it's because she already growing bigger and my tummy has limited space left. It's really amazing to feel my baby moving in my tummy and knowing there's a little one attached to me.
Around mid of 2nd trimester, i found my tummy will get harden at night. It feels like the baby is expanding, pushing out hard inside my tummy and caused pressure to my waist. I'll have to sit or stand really straight. Strange thing is after a night sleeping, my tummy will soften in the morning. Then, get harden again at night. Anyway, the Gynea said its normal because baby is more active at night.
Almost at the end of 2nd trimester, sometimes, i feel painful at my lower abdomen as well as my lower back. Of course, i know this is because my baby has grown bigger and caused pressure. Also, my leg will cramp once in a while during midnight, have taken calcium tablets though. And since i am sleeping alone, the only thing i can do is reminding myself to relax the muscle. I'm glad that actually help, otherwise i really don't know what to do.
People always said husband had to be around when the wife is pregnant, to share those sweet and sour moments together. From what the wife has suffered during pregnancy, husband will be more loving, caring and appreciate the wife more. I agreed it will be nice if hubby is around with me for all these and i believe he would love to, if he could. However, our situation just doesn't allow. Of course, i can stayed at SZ with hubby until 3rd trimester and then be back in M'sia for delivery. But that will caused burden to hubby. He felt worry when he is working, i'm alone at home. Besides, pregnancy check is really costly in Hongkong and inconvenient. So our best option is, i am back. Anyway, i glad he is back once during my 2nd trimester and did feel the changes on me. I have also try my best to describe my changes and to share my feeling when we having webchat.
Still another 3 months to go. I hope he is with me when i delivered our baby. So, "my little darling, please be patient. Get growing and wait till you are ready only come out to meet daddy and mummy, ya?''

Follow up check up at GH Muar
Arrived there about 9.00 am and it was already very crowded. Taken number and wait. It was like any other routine check at the poli. The only different is i get to meet the doctor. Trainee doctor and gynea's assistant, not the gynea though. My mum said we (ie. normal pregnant patients) going there, are for those trainee doctors' training purpose, only special or serious case will be treated by specialist. Well, it's sort of true.
Urine test : normal
Blood pressure : 124/64
Weight : 51kg
Baby heart beat normal and is doing well.
There is one thing i am in doubt, i am not sure how's the GH system works. Supposedly, i have admitted to the GH earlier, they should already opened a file for me and all my records and tests results should be kept in the file for future reference. But, during the follow up, i found that they
are opening a new file for me, asking me those questions as i am the first time there. Besides, i actually have to tell the trainee doctor, i was admitted earlier and am there for follow up check up! Weird system, rite?? I wondered where has my earlier admission records gone. They didn't keep the file ?? Or they kept them separately?? Wouldn't it redundant??
Anyhow, will still going there for follow up because i still haven't decided where to deliver my baby. That will have to depend on the situation i think (private gynea is more professional but GH medical equipments is more complete). So, going there is like make a booking, some Malay said to "tempah katil", just in case i am going there for delivery.
Am praying for smooth delivery.

A(H1N1) fear....
Early since June, my family member has taken their turn (normal flu only i suppose) and recovered...and i thought i would free from it because i am always proud with my body's immunity towards flu (i seldom being infected ***Touch wood***)...but unfortunately, being the last one being infected in my family, i am having it, at this very moment...
At any other time, flu wasn't a big deal....but since the H1N1, it has caused fear....hospitals or clinics are crowded with flu patients......and the more i read from newspaper, the more i feel worry, especially i am under one of the high risk categories....it seems there is no more must have symptoms, such as fever, sniffle, sore throat and cough to determine (me only sore throat and running nose).....though i believe mine is because of the hot weather and extremely hazy air...
Anyway, i have went to my gynea for med yesterday and will be going to Muar GH for return check up....so let see what's the GH gynea suggest....well, i hope i am alright by then....

Complaint on Airasia...
To : customercare-donotreply@airasia.com
Subject : COMPLAINT ON ticket price
On 8 Jul 2009, I booked a ticket for my husband travelling from Shenzhen to Kuala Lumpur, travelling date : 30 Sept 2009 time : 8.45pm , flight: AK89. The ticket priced at 895.00 CNY without airport tax. Knowing that the fare is capacity controlled, and the price has actually increased quite a lot, meaning only limited seats left, i purchased the ticket without second thought to avoid it being sold out.
However, about a week later on 18 Jul 2009, i checked the ticket price again for the same date and travelling time (ie. 30 Sept 2009 time : 8.45pm, AK89), i was shocked to found out the price has reduced to 258.00 CNY!!! The ticket i have purchased is almost 4 times expensive!!!
Isn't Airasia's fare was said to be capacity controlled and fare offered only to limited seats, how could the price suddenly fluctuated??? If the seats with lower fare still available, how come Airasia are selling it with higher price 1st??? I know there is a promotion, and I could understand a 10% to 20% price reduction of previous price during promotional period, but in my case thats more than 70% reduction. That isn't fair to us who purchased the ticket earlier, thinking that the earlier the cheaper. Is Airasia marking up the ticket price before promotion (Airasia knows there is promotion coming soon) and to break even the promotional cost???
In this case, as a consumer, i think Airasia owed us an explanation and i requested a solution (cancelled my ealier purchased with no cost so that i could repurchased under the promotional price or refund the difference between 2 prices). Also, please advised us whether to purchased the ticket earlier to enjoy cheaper price or to wait until there is promotion??? because in my case, promotion price is very much cheaper than what i got earlier.
I'm really dissappointed. For years, since the route available, my husband and i travelled frequently via Airasia between Shenzhen and Kuala Lumpur (vice versa), but we end up being manipulated!! I sincerely await your reply asap.
By : Jess Wan
Below is Airasia's reply to me which i don't really satisfy.
Dear Ms.Jess,
We thank you for writing in to us.
Regards to your feedback, the fare that you booked is with airport tax of RM 90.00 (amount i quote has taken out the tax!) and it is not a promotion fare.
AirAsia offer fares that are lower than the market rate and one of the reasons we can offer such low fares is by distributing our fares according to demand and supply. This approach in general allows more people to take advantage of our low fares (In my case, i felt we being taken advantage).
The promo fares may not be available on every flight as it depends on the demand for that flight and how many seats have already been booked. The special offers will normally only be available on days when there are fewer people flying (If demand is low, why ticket selling at high price 1st??? taking customer's advantage lor!!). Furthermore, we may increase or decrease the number of seats available on any flight while the promotion is running depending on the situation and how much we demand see coming in (So...its up to Airasia. When they happy, they could sell it cheap; when they are not, increased the price).
We regret to inform you that we are unable to cancel and refund because once booking is confirm cancellation of flight is not allowed and payment are not refundable (That's standard answer! I am just trying my luck).
Trust we have your understanding in this matter.
Thanks and Regards,
Mani

We are really angry about Airasia. For years, we been travelling via it and we always trusted on is pricing, buying early for cheaper ticket. Even if the price has increased overtime but we really need to make the trip, we will still pay for it with no doubts, believing it is because only limited seats left. This is the first time we encounter this.
Well, a 10-20% reduction during promo is understandable, but now ours is a 70% reduction. Money paid for a person's ticket is then enough to paid for a family travel for 3!!! That's ridiculous, i think...
I have lodged a same complaint to "National Consumer Complaints Centre (NCCC)". Lets see any outcome. Hopefully, because of this, Airasia won't simply increase or decrease the price and claiming because of the 'sudden' change in demand and supply.
