Apple cake

I'm baking again! following recipe this time...

My apple cake looks a little ugly, i think...hehe...but that's the standard look (similar to the site where i got the recipe). It tastes nice with little apple fragrant and the apple still little crunchy. To people who love sweet, it's just nice, but to me it's over. Will have to reduce the sugar next time.

Recipe:-
~ 250g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
~ 250g golden caster sugar (or normal caster sugar)
~ 4 eggs, beaten
~ 250g self-raising flour
~ 3 apples, peeled, cored and cut into wedges
~ 2 tbsp brown sugar**
~ ¼ tsp ground cinnamon**

Steps:-
~ Heat the oven to 180C.
~ Butter a 20cm/8inch baking tray, then line the base with baking paper.
~ Beat the caster sugar and butter together until the mixture turns pale and fluffy.
~ Add the eggs and flour, then beat together quickly to make a smooth batter.
~ Tip into the prepared baking tray, then lay the apple wedges on top, poking them halfway into the mix. (Don’t worry if the apples appear crowded – they’ll shrink as they cook.)
~ Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.**
~ Bake for 1 hour 5 mins, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean and the sponge is risen and golden.
~ Leave to cool for a few mins, then release the tray and cool the cake completely on a wire rack.

**can be skipped. (I skipped and it's still nice).
PS: Reduced the castor sugar if don't want it to be too sweet.
